What is Collagen?

Collagen is the body's most abundant protein, making up about 35% of our protein content. It's found in connective tissues like muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, and organs, helping with flexibility and mobility. Type I collagen, which makes up 90% of the body's collagen, provides strength, support, and elasticity.

Collagen is made up of peptides (amino acid chains) that form protein fibers. While collagen is in many skincare products, these topicals don’t effectively penetrate the skin. The best way to boost collagen levels is through supplements or food. Hydrolyzed collagen, broken down into smaller particles, is absorbed 90-95% by the body, potentially  more effectively than collagen from food.

As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to wrinkles, joint pain, and other issues. By our mid-twenties, collagen levels start to decline. Marine collagen, derived from fish scales, is the most bioavailable form, with a 1.5x higher absorption rate than bovine collagen. It’s also cleaner, safer, and avoids the risks of diseases like Mad Cow.

Our marine collagen comes from wild-caught, deep-sea fish, ensuring sustainability and preventing waste. Through a process called hydrolyzation, collagen is broken down into smaller particles that the body can easily absorb and use. This high quality, low-molecular weight collagen provides the most effective support for your body.
